Handcrafted in Bourjhammoud, the Armenian neighborhood in Beirut, where the goldsmith's art is still alive. The skills traveled far with their people; first contacts to the Middle East were made when Tigranes the Great conquered Phonenicia, where Beirut was part of this short-lived empire. Roots were also established when Armenia converted to Christianity and the pilgrims passed on their way to Jerusalem.
Nevertheless, the remains of armenian culture was minimal till the historical happenings between 1915-1975. Mainly the Armenian genocide has forced the refugees to find new ground and little they brought along, but of a genuine value; a rich culture!
